Before installing expensive rotating machinery, accurate levelling of the machine sole plates is a key requirement for achieving accurate and stable shaft alignment after the machines are mounted, which is essential for efficient and reliable machine operation.

The Digipas dual axis precision electronic levels DWL3000xy and DWL3500xy provide an efficient and simple to use tool to achieve high quality sole plate levelling installations, with both level and flatness quickly and easily adjusted to within tight specifications using live digital level readings in both directions without moving the level.

Sole plate installation is often undertaken by technicians with insufficiently accurate tools to do the levelling job properly. Typical spirit levels and laser levels used for construction activities are not sufficiently accurate to set the sole plates to engineering specifications. Expensive surveying techniques similarly have limited measurement resolution where mounting pad flatness in the order of 0.02mm to 0.05mm are required.

Traditionally, a precision engineers or machinist level is called upon, but these highly sensitive tools need trained operators and lots of patience to achieve good results. Spirit levels should be user-calibrated and checked in both directions for each reading with sufficient settling time to read true. In the hands of untrained operators the traditional level is quite easily misapplied and read incorrectly, so that levelling problems are not found until a laser shaft alignment test is made and many man-hours on site are wasted making rectifications.

The dual axis DWL3000xy and DWL3500xy allow precise levelling to be done in a simpler way and considerably faster. The digital level readings provided in both directions are clear and are "live". Time savings of up to 50% over traditional methods are readily achieved, with less skilled operators, and with increased confidence to achieve engineering sign-off every time.

USB and optional Bluetooth connectivity to PC data-logging  and reporting software allows professional levelling reports to be created with automatic data collection.
